Hello there, this is one of a kind. For all you social media marketers, digital marketers, content creators, writers, and bloggers out there coming up with an opinion editorial for your own content is highly recommended.
I got this idea from a colleague that some times your audience would love to hear about your own experience in the field. Your views where you went wrong what you did right and so much more. With that, this is my very first Opinion Editorial and my first edition will be about being a blogger.
My Writing Voice.
Firstly when I started off 3 years ago, I battled a lot with my writing voice. What I’d want my audience to feel was my writing style and how to put it out.
Well, as a blogger you have to start off from somewhere whether its those long Facebook pages, I get it. I started off as a poet. I used to put down my feelings in words before I got into creative writing. This was not easy for me as I grew into this kind of blogging where I focussed on my Blog niche, I had to lose more than 3 already built blogs because I was still searching for my writing voice but here I am.
The most common problem I encountered as a blogger was monetization of my work. I was constantly moving from one blog to the other looking for that style. What I didn’t get was this was actually affecting my monetization. I left my previous works because I was doing everything as a blogger. Trying to solve everything and that didn’t give me a specific focus. As a blogger, this is key if you want to keep an audience or get traffic for your blog which we’d later lead to you getting AdSense for your site.
As a writer, I felt this was more a passionate choice and never thought of monetizing my work in the past. Once, I actually got the sense of it, I didn’t clearly get off on it well because of all these blogs, my lack of a blog niche, and a writing style.
Apart from my other projects well I decided to actually get my own domain. I created my blog with WordPress. With the help of a very talented coder as a mentor Simons Ombori, you can get much about coding from him at https://omborisymons.com/
I learned some of the basics that would get me started.
I bought my first ever domain at namecheap.com. They’ll give you a selection of monthly or yearly subscriptions. I then acquired my domain name and hosted WordPress. Then started to work on tools that will get my website and blog up and running. From mail poet which helps me with my mailing list, pixel cat, Ultimate Social Media Icons and so much more. I will feature them in my articles.
If you want to get into tools to get you going as a blogger, content creator and SMM this is for you, https://annetteobondo.com/2020-05-22-social-media-marketing-toolkit-for-a-beginner/
Being passionate about the digital space and content creation. I made this my home.
In conclusion, never give up on being a blogger. I believe that for a blogger you always have to read or consume content from other blogs to keep you informed at all times. Growth is everything.
My next Opinion editorial will either be about Adsense, SEO, or the tools I used.
